In this game, I’m working as a Lead Game Designer.
I’m responsible for leading the team while designing characters, puzzles, dialogues, lore, and mechanics.
Since it’s a game jam, we were aware that we had barely any time to make everything, so I’ve prepared everything for the game to flow in the fastest way possible. So to be the best leader possible, I created projects in the chosen project management tools, and I’m leading and instructing everyone of its usefulness.
For project management, we decided everyone’s specific role, and I created sections in Codecks, where while I’m designing the game, I’m able to quickly add new tasks through bot commands in discord.
The plot of the game is inspired by the obscure point of view of Djinns presented by the Supernatural TV Series. The idea of a Djinn being a Demigod that feeds on humans, and instead of granting wishes, he put them in a comatose state and creates dreams of paradises is incredible. So I’ve created a character that is living a perfect paradise over and over again until at some point he wakes up and tries to understand what is going on. During the game, the player will visit the dream world, and also the real world. The different world system is inspired by the Silent Hill idea of multiple worlds, where the dream world is a “paradise” version of the current real world.
For Writing, I’m using the Writer Solo free software, which is very simple and agile for writing.
For quickly making design choices, and dynamically increasing the size of the GDD, I’ve decided to use Nuclino. In Nuclino I’m able to quickly design multiple aspects of the game, while also making it available for the team to read through while working on each aspect.
